Days 1 & 2

Explore – Ulaanbaatar

Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, you’ll be welcomed by your private guide from Nomadic Expeditions and transferred to the deluxe Shangri-La Hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may explore the city, a blend of traditional gers and modern high-rises.

The next day, visit the Chinggis Khan Museum for a guided tour through 2,000 years of history. Then, join a paleontologist for an exclusive look at newly unearthed dinosaur fossils in a local lab. Continue to the Zanabazar Fine Arts Museum, renowned for its Buddhist art and artifacts. Conclude your day with a welcome dinner at one of Ulaanbaatar’s finest restaurants.

Days 3 & 4

North Mongolia & Delgermurun

Fly by private Cessna to Murun, then drive to the ancient Uushigiin Deer Stones, a fascinating collection of 14 well-preserved stone monuments, some over 3,000 years old. Afterward, head to a private ger camp on the serene Delgermurun River, where you’ll settle into a traditional Mongolian ger with modern comforts.

The following day, explore the breathtaking landscape on horseback or by hiking. In the afternoon, meet a local shaman to learn about Mongolia’s ancient shamanistic traditions, where spirits of ancestors are called upon to reveal insights into the past, present, and future. This immersive experience offers a deep connection to Mongolia’s spiritual heritage.

Days 5 & 6

Exploring Ulgii & Meeting Eagle Hunters

Fly by private Cessna to Ulgii, the capital of Mongolia’s remote Bayan-Ulgii province, home to the Kazakh minority. Upon arrival, visit the Local History Museum, where you’ll discover textiles, hunting gear, and carpets that reflect Kazakh traditions. Then, drive to Nomadic Expeditions’ Three Eagle Camp at the base of the stunning Tsambagarav Mountain.

The next day, experience the horsemanship of local nomads, including the thrilling “Tinge Ilu” game and the playful “Kizguar.” In the afternoon, meet Kazakh eagle hunters who practice ancient falconry techniques. Enjoy a live demonstration with golden eagles, followed by traditional Kazakh cuisine and cultural performances.

Days 7, 8 & 9

Namarjin Valley, Great Gobi, & Khukh Bulag Mountain

Begin with a drive to Namarjin Valley, where you’ll hike through the stunning Khar Yamaat Canyon, possibly spotting Siberian ibex. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in nomadic culture, learning to make “aaruul” with a local family before visiting the Uriankhai for an archery demonstration.

Next, fly to the Great Gobi Protected Area B, home to over 300 reintroduced Przewalski horses and Asiatic wild asses. Explore this vast wilderness, taking in its incredible wildlife and conservation success.

On Day 9, hike to Khukh Bulag Mountain to see ancient rock paintings after ascending to a cliff summit. Conclude with a night wildlife adventure, seeking corsac foxes, jerboas, and possibly wolves.

Day 10

Fly to Three Camel Lodge, Gobi

Today, fly south aboard your privately chartered Cessna to the Gobi, Mongolia’s southernmost province (4 hours). Despite its desert label, the Gobi is a diverse region rich in history and paleontological significance. Over the next few days, explore its stunning landscapes, home to Bactrian camels, Argali mountain sheep, goitered gazelle, golden eagles, and rare species like the snow leopard and Gobi bear.

Fly to Bayankhongor town for a tea break, then continue to Three Camel Lodge, nestled at the edge of Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park. Spend the evening with welcome cocktails, dinner, and live music.

Days 11, 12 & 13

Sand Dunes, Yol Valley, & Fossil Exploration

Begin Day 11 with a visit to Moltsog Els, one of the Gobi’s few sand dune regions, where you can explore the dunes on foot or ride a native Bactrian camel. After lunch, hike in Havsgait Valley to discover one of the largest petroglyph collections in the area, featuring carvings of ibex, deer, and camels, along with panoramic views of the Gobi.

On Day 12, explore Yol Valley National Park, a lush oasis in the Zuun Saikhan Mountain range, where you’ll see bearded vultures and enjoy a rewarding hike through the canyon. In the afternoon, experience Mongolia’s “Three Manly Games”—wrestling, archery, and horseback riding.

Conclude your adventure on Day 13 with a fossil hunt at Tugregiin Shiree, Alag Teeg, and the Flaming Cliffs. Discover the famous “Fighting Dinosaurs” fossil at Tugregiin Shiree, explore Alag Teeg’s armored dinosaur remains, and marvel at the iconic Flaming Cliffs, known for their stunning red-orange sandstone and historic significance in paleontology.

Day 14

Fly to Ulaanbaatar

Board your Cessna for a flight to Ulaanbaatar (2 hours). On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring art galleries and shopping for Mongolian arts and crafts.

Transfer to the airport for your departing flight.

Days 13

Tugregiin Shiree/ Alag Teeg/ Flaming Cliffs

Join your paleontologist for an exciting fossil hunt at Tugregiin Shiree, Alag Teeg, and the Flaming Cliffs. Begin at Tugregiin Shiree, renowned for the “Fighting Dinosaurs” fossil of a Protoceratops and Velociraptor locked in combat, first uncovered by Polish expeditions in the late ’60s.

Next, explore Alag Teeg, once home to Armored Dinosaurs, before heading to the iconic Flaming Cliffs. Famous for their stunning red-orange sandstone that glows at sunrise and sunset, this site is historic for yielding the world’s first dinosaur egg nest discovered by Dr. Roy Chapman Andrews in 1922.
