We are honored to be recognized in TIME’s World’s Greatest Places 2025, a prestigious distinction celebrating the most extraordinary destinations around the globe. What makes this recognition even more special? The cover of this edition features Mongolia’s legendary eagle hunters, a striking tribute to a tradition that has endured for centuries.
At the heart of this feature is the Eagle Hunter Cultural Center, an initiative dedicated to preserving and celebrating the Kazakh eagle hunting tradition. The center was established through a collaborative effort between The Cultural Sanctuaries Foundation, Nomadic Expeditions, the Kazakh Falconry Association, the Wildlife Science and Conservation Center of Mongolia, the Bayan-Ölgii local government, and the eagle hunting community. It serves as both an educational hub and a gathering space, ensuring that this rich heritage continues to thrive for generations to come.

A Legacy of Cultural Preservation
For over 25 years, Nomadic Expeditions has been deeply committed to safeguarding Mongolia’s cultural heritage. Our founder, Jalsa Urubshurow, recognized the importance of preserving the ancient art of Kazakh eagle hunting and co-founded the Golden Eagle Festival in 1999. Today, this festival stands as a global symbol of resilience and pride, drawing visitors from around the world to witness this breathtaking tradition firsthand.
The Eagle Hunter Cultural Center, featured prominently in TIME’s article, is the next chapter in this ongoing effort. This center provides a space for eagle hunters to share their knowledge, educate visitors, and ensure the continuation of their customs in a rapidly changing world.
